Extra Credit 5 (20 points max)
Choose ONE (1) of the following:
A) Quack Doctor - There were many occasions where some con artist posed as an alchemist, claiming to have the ability to turn lead into gold. Find an instance in history where this happened. Tell me about it. What did he try to do? What happened to the alchemist? Minimum 200 words.
B) The Rose Cross - The Rosicrucian emblem is usually discernible through two elements: a rose and a cross, usually one embedded in the other. Take these two elements and re-make the Rosicrucian emblem. You can use photo manipulation programs or you can draw it, your choice!
C) Golden Opportunity - Well, you're either a scamming alchemist or a person who is tired of being duped into buying super-expensive formulas that don't work. If you're a scamming alchemist, make an ad or notice enticing your audience into believing you. If you're the angry buyer, make a warning notice or wanted sign concerning the alchemist in question. You can do this using text or illustration/photo manipulation. Get creative!
Please upload all graphics to a separate account such as Photobucket or Imageshack as I will not be opening attachments!

Alchemical Symbols 5 (4 points max)
You're wondering why the extra credit is only worth 20 points. Well. This is why. At the end of every assignment, I will have three different alchemy symbols below with a general category next to it. Using the categories and the pictures, identify each symbol and include these answers in your Extra Credit email.
Each identification is worth 2 points, with a max 4 points. However, if you identify all three, I will count the extra 2 points as bonus for lost points, etc.
Note: The symbols are symbols of alchemy, and may have come from as ancient as the Chinese and Egyptian influences to the Newtonian symbols. They can be planets, metals, elements or even alchemical processes.
